Famous local food in Yamanashi: Hoto Noodle

Gourmet 01 Apr, 2017

Hoto is a famous local dish widespread mainly through Yamanashi Prefecture.

The most common version, which stands out for its chewy textured noodles and its creamy soup, is prepared by kneading the flour, cutting the thick noodles roughly and then letting them boil together with vegetables and miso-based soup.

Hoto, combining the dietary fiber and vitamins contained in the vegetables with the starch contained in the flour and tubers, and the proteins contained in the miso, creates a perfectly balanced healthy dish. For this reason, it is not only good for your beauty but also for your health, since it works as a cancer preventive food. A lot of restaurants with “Hoto” signboards are scattered throughout the prefecture and you should try it at least once!
